Colonial Will Host S-Bred Racing In 2014

In a brief release, officials with Colonial Downs have announced that there will be live Standardbred racing this year at the Virginia track.

The first Standardbred race date of the season at Colonial will take place on September 17.

Officials have also stated that the barn area will open on September 10.

The minimum race purse will be $3,000 and stall rent will be picked up if you join the horsemen's organization (owners and trainers).

There is currently no live Thoroughbred racing at Colonial, as an ongoing dispute between the operators of Colonial and the Virginia Horsemen's Benevolent and Protective Association has ground live Thoroughbred racing at the track to a halt.
