On Tuesday, June 21, the Pennsylvania Senate voted against making it possible for another company to build another racino in the state

.

The Beaver County Times has reported that the Senate voted 34-16 against an amendment to a bill which would have allowed another corporation to hold a racing license.

The article cites a local legislator as saying that allowing another racing license in the state would harm the chances of the proposed Valley View Downs facility from coming to fruition.

"While I understand and share the frustration associated with the speed at which the Lawrence County racetrack has progressed, the truth is that much of the support work for the project has already been completed," Senator Elder Vogel, Jr. was quoted as saying. "Initiating another racetrack at this time would further delay the project in Lawrence County. I remain strong in my commitment to see this project through."
