Cherry Peep, Wilder Star At The Meadows

Cherry Peep 'quarter-poled' to the top and was untouchable from there, as she went on to score an easy victory in a $10,800 conditioned trot, which was the Wednesday (June 17) feature at the Meadows.

Driver Mike Wilder swept the 'front three' and hit the wire first in half of the track's 10 Wednesday races. Jim Pantaleano piloted three winners during the afternoon card.

Although Cherry Peep hadn’t raced since March 11, Aaron Merriman confidently sent her to the point from fourth. The five-year-old daughter of Conway Hall shrugged off the first-over challenge of Tequila Talkin and went on to triumph in 1:56. Early leader Cantab Lindy finished second, one and one-quarter lengths in arrears. Tequila Talkin finished third.

Andy Rickert trains Cherry Peep -- who pushed her lifetime bankroll to $175,948 -- and owns along with Corey Hendricks and Nicole Stahl.

Live racing at the Meadows will resume Saturday with a 10-race program. The card will feature a $10,911.35 carryover in the final-race Super Hi-5. First post will be at 12:45 p.m.
