Claiming Series Action At Mohawk

Woodbine Mohawk Park hosted two divisions of the $15,000 Pop Up Claiming Series on Thursday evening (June 15) and The Ideal Huntress posted the faster time of the two races.

The Ideal Huntress and Louis-Philippe Roy got away fifth, 5-1/4 lengths off the leading Baby Bonita, who led the field to the opening panel in :27.3. Roy pulled his right line in search of the lead, clearing before the half in :56.3. The Ideal Huntress continued through three-quarters in 1:24.4 before taking off to a 2-1/2 length victory in 1:52. Manhattan Night (Scott Young) was second and Baby Bonita (Tyler Jones) finished in third.

The Ideal Huntress is a four-year-old daughter of Huntsville with $95,230 in lifetime earnings to go along with nine career wins. Brett Lester trains The Ideal Huntress for Michel Letarte, Jean Allaire, Jean-Francois Reid and Maurice Houle.

In the other division, Darkrshadeofpale N (Bob McClure) sat third through the quarter in :26.4 and half in :55.3 before pulling first over before the three-quarters in 1:25. Down the stretch, the pair took the lead to win by 1-3/4 lengths in 1:53.

Katelyn Graham trains Darkrshadeofpale N for Steve Mihalic. The nine-year-old mare has $240,478 in career earnings to go along with 29 wins.
