An eight-race card at Georgian Downs on Saturday evening (June 3) kicks off the 2023 season at the Innisfil, Ont. oval.

An $8,500 fillies and mares conditioned pace tops the card with a field of seven heading to the gate in the seventh race. The 2-1 morning line favourite is Big Cheddar, trained by Dale Heard and driven by Stephen Byron. The four-year-old daughter of Betterthancheddar will start from post two. Starting just to her outside as the 5-2 second choice will be the sophomore filly Mending Fences for the tandem of trainer Meg Crone and driver Anthony Haughan. Ardynes Moment leaves from the pylons, picked for third at 3-1 on the morning line. Thomas Smith will be at the controls of the four-year-old mare for trainer Jayne Walker.

Georgian Downs will feature live harness racing every Sunday with a 6 p.m. post time and every Tuesday and Saturday with a 7:15 p.m. post time through Aug. 29.
