A co-ed group of trotters sparred in Monday’s $32,000 Preferred 2 Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and HP Mama B was a handy winner for the tandem of driver Sylvain Filion and trainer Ben Baillargeon.

Filion got away third with HP Mama B while Tokyo Seelster shot to the top and carved out an opening quarter in :26.4.  Filion then brushed his charge to the top in the backstretch, and after slicing out middle splits of :57.1 and 1:25.3, she used a closing panel of :27 to seal the deal by a pair of lengths in 1:52.3.  Patriarch Hanover was next best, with Locatelli rounding out the Trifecta ticket.

The five-year-old daughter of Royalty For Life-Winters Jewel is owned by Guylaine Picard and Celine Paquin.  The 18-time winner now boasts a 2-3-1 record from nine trips to the track this season.  She’s banked $618,663 to date.

Earlier on the card in a $16,000 conditioned trot, Bob McClure power-drove Muscle Fashion to an impressive win in a lethal clocking of 1:51.1 – an effort that was just two-fifths of a second shy of matching the track record for older male trotters.  It also goes down as the quickest trotting mile of the season in the nation.

Muscle Fashion rocketed to the lead in :26.3 and then ploughed through middle fractions of :54.4 and 1:22.3 before using a :28.3 closing quarter to win by a half-length margin over Chulo.  Gold Edition was third.

Katie Graham trains the eight-year-old son of Muscle Hill-Yankee Senorita for owner Steve Mihalic of Oakville, Ont.  The gelding won for the first time this season and for the 23rd time in his career.  He’s banked $368,275 to date.
