Meridian Farms regrets to inform breeders in Atlantic Canada that the popular young first-year stallion Steelhead Hanover was euthanized following emergency treatment at the Atlantic Veterinary College on May 4, 2017.

Steelhead Hanover entered the Maritime stallion ranks earlier this year. A multiple stakes winning son of Bettors Delight, Steelhead Hanover won 24 lifetime races and banked more than $577,000 in purses. He's the half-brother to Sprig Hanover, the dam of 2016 two-year-old world champion Downbytheseaside.

Meridian will work to accommodate breeders who have committed to Steelhead Hanover through to the end of the year with the farm's remaining Milton, Prince Edward Island-based stallions.

Please join Standardbred Canada in offering condolences to the connections of Steelhead Hanover.
