Treasured Tee Topples Preferred Foes In London

It was a ‘go to the front and don’t look back’ approach taken by driver Tyler Moore with Treasured Tee in Monday’s $15,000 London Classic Yearling Sale Preferred Trot at The Raceway at Western Fair District, and it worked out perfectly for the veteran gelding.

Handicapped with the outside post, Moore wasted little time in pointing Treasured Tee to the top.  The eight-year-old son of Yankee Glide-Platinum T hustled the field through fractions of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:26.3 before cruising home in :30.1 to win by 2-1/2 lengths over Sizzlen Hot Herbie in 1:56.4.  Marvin Hagler was third.

Trainer Francis Guillemette shares ownership on the 24-time winner with Eric Beausejour and Stephane Geoffroy.  The partners watched him improve his 2023 record to 6-2-1 from 18 starts with the triumph.  His lifetime earning now stands at $361,451.

The Monday evening program – the final one at the half-mile oval until racing returns to London in October – also featured three divisions of the Prospect Series.  There was a single split for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings in addition to a pair of divisions for three-year-old pacing colts and geldings.

Acefortyfour Elvis took the lone division for trotters in wire-to-wire fashion for the tandem of driver Tyler Borth and trainer Mike Timpano. The son of Il Sogno Dream-B Cor Tanya won by three lengths over Its A Long Story in 1:58.3.  Impressive Dude tagged along to grab the show dough in the six-horse affair. Wendy Warren-Timpano and Denise Carr share ownership on the career winner of $29,950.

Delightful Leader turned a two-hole trip into a 1:55.3 victory in the first division for pacers. J Harris engineered the winning trip for the Melissa Lamoureux trainee. Sent off as the even-money favourite, Delightful Leader drew away late to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Xtra Cheese.  Sharky came on late to nab the show dough in the $8,600 affair. The son of Bettors Delight-Bad As Leader, who is owned by 8113564 Canada Ltd, has banked over $52,000 to date.

Scribblers was a popular in the other pacing division for the team of driver Jason Ryan and trainer Paul Reid. The son of Sportswriter-Gypsy Talent led the group through panels of :28.4, :59.1 and 1:27.3 before sprinting home in :28.4 to win by 5-1/4 lengths over Briggs in 1:56.2.  Speak Of War rounded out the Trifecta ticket. The Canam Crew of Port Perry, Ont. owns the career winner of $47,500.
