Logan Park By A Lip In Preferred Trot

A compact group of five faced the starting gate in Monday’s $36,000 Free For All Trot at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and for the second straight start it was Logan Park coming away victorious.

With Doug McNair at the lines, Logan Park got away third and watched Fashion Frenzie stroll through sensible fractions of :27.2, :57.2 and 1:26.  Logan Park stepped first over as the field moved to the three-quarter pole and he then stormed home in :27.1 to win by a nose over Fashion Frenzie in 1:53.2. Patriarch Hanover was a lapped-on third.

Kyle Fellows trains the five-year-old son of Archangel-Rite Outa The Park for Outofthepark Stable, Reg Higgs and Arpad Szabo.  The homebred improved his 2023 record to 5-1-0 from six assignments. The 17-time winner has banked more than $825,000 to date.

Robert Ciavardini worked a pocket trip off a contested pace, pounced and then held off a late pursuer to claim victory in Monday’s $15,000 Billings Amateur Series Pace.

Leaving from Post 5, Ciavardini slid Frownies Miracle behind leader Arukidinme Cabbie (driven by Daniel St Pierre), who battled with parked Artistic Pick (Gerard Demers) through a :26.3 first quarter. The battle ensued through a :55 half and Demers soon retreated and Artistic Pick played a pick through the final turn. All the while, Frownies Miracle capitalized on the opportunity and circled to the lead before three-quarters in 1:24.3.

With the backfield scrounging back into contention, Frownies Miracle opened a five-length lead into the stretch. Force N Fury (Charles Longo) lunged with fervour down the center of the course to try and collar Frownies Miracle, but Ciavardini built a strong enough cushion to hold the win by a head in a 1:53.4 mile. Nuzzle Loader (Anthony Verruso) closed to finish third, another six lengths behind, with Lets Get Pickled (Matt Zuccarello) fourth.

Kyle Bossence trains and co-owns Frownies Miracle, a six-year-old gelding by Warrawee Needy, with Dale Betts. Sent off at 24-1, he paid $50.50 to win.
