The racing community was thrilled to return to Kawartha Downs for the first qualifying session of the season on Saturday (May 29).
A dozen dashes were conducted, featuring 71 horses over the afternoon card. Fastest mile of the day came courtesy Cold Creek Standardbred's four-year-old Dali gelding Cold Creek Cabo, a 1:53.4 winner for driver Ryan Guy and trainer Bill Slack.
"With a new starting truck and lots of improvements in the backstretch everyone is looking forward when racing will resume," said the track in its statement, noting that Kawartha is hoping to resume live harness racing on Saturday, June 19.
