After an 11-length romp in the second leg of the City Of London Trotting Series on Friday night (May 19) at The Raceway, Like Chaos will attempt to wrap up his second series title on Camluck Classic Night next week.

Trainer/driver Bruce Richardson shares ownership of the three-year-old Lookslikeachpndale-Misty Breeze gelding, who won the Ontario Sired Spring Series final last month at Woodbine Mohawk Park before sweeping the City Of London preliminary legs for male trotters.

Like Chaos took control at the start of his $8,000 prelim and set fractions of :28.2, :58.3 and 1:28.1 before drawing off with half the field making breaks. He stopped the clock in 1:57.4 to earn his sixth sophomore victory in 10 starts after going winless in eight outings as a freshman.

The lion's share of the purse lifted his bankroll to $68,000 for Richardson and partner Joseph Coffey of Orangeville, Ont.

Sent postward as the heavy 1-9 favourite, Like Chaos paid $2.10 to win. Dealin Duble followed in second but was placed third for a lapped on break at the finish behind Sunglassesatnight, who swept three-high down the backstretch to hit the board.

Dennis Duford's homebred three-year-old filly April Duford ($6.90) bested opening leg winners Cash Deals and Savannahs Dream in the fillies and mares division, winning in a career-best 1:59.4 for driver Tyler Borth and trainer Ashley Duford. Unraced as a two-year-old, the Il Sogno Dream-Cha Cha Slide filly collared the popular pacesetter Cash Deals (:29.1, 1:00.1, 1:30.1) at the wire to notch her fifth win in a dozen starts.

The City Of London Series is for Ontario-sired trotters and pacers four years old and younger that were non-winners of $10,000 lifetime, as of midnight Feb. 28, 2023.

The finals will be contested on Friday, May 26 when The Raceway will also host the $150,000 Camluck Classic.

In other racing action, Big Bad Jenn ($2.60) continued her win streak in the claiming ranks, making it eight straight with a front-striding 1:56.3 season's best effort. Borth drove the seven-year-old Big Bad John-Polo Jenn mare for trainer Gerard Demers and owner La Ferme Tag Inc. The popular mare, who is North America's win leader with a dozen victories in 2023, was claimed for the fourth time this season and will move to the George Robinson stable after being taken here for a $10,625 tag.
