Arrakis posted back-to-back victories in the $13,000 Preferred Trot after going gate-to-wire on Tuesday evening (April 4) at The Raceway at the Western Fair District.

The feature class was scratched down to a field of five and Arrakis took position on the far outside as the bettors' choice. Just before the opening panel in :28.4, Arrakis was able to settle into the lead ahead of Lilys Lass and Run Like Hill. Heavy Dude E and Petro Angel were the two trailers in the short field. Through the half in :59.1 and three-quarters in 1:28.3, the field remained single file with Arrakis on top. Around the final turn, Lilys Lass popped off the rail in an attempt to overtake the leader, but Arrakis opened up the gap between them. Arrakis (Tyler Moore) won in 1:58.2, 2-1/2 lengths over Lilys Lass (Jeffrey Hunt). Run Like Hill (Samuel Fillion) was third.

Arrakis is owned by Francis Guillemette and Robert Bernicky. Trained by Guillemette, the 11-year-old gelding won his fourth race in 10 starts this season. In his career, Arrakis has a record of 43-32-39 and $577,000 in earnings.
