Don Beatson’s veteran mare So Much More once again trounced the opposite sex, this time with a game first-over push to take the $32,000 Preferred 2 Pace at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Saturday night (April 29).

Leaving from post four, driver James MacDonald floated the seven-year-old Big Jim mare to sit third while The Longest Yard cleared control to a :26.2 first quarter. MacDonald then got underway with So Much More along the rim through a :55.3 half and drew to equal terms with The Longest Yard to three-quarters in 1:23.4. The Longest Yard folded off the turn as So Much More stormed to the lead. American History weaved out of the pocket to take late aim, but So Much More held him at bay by a head in a 1:51.3 mile to win. Roll With The Flow finished third and Commanding Officer took fourth.

Don Beatson trains and co-owns So Much More with Kenneth Beatson and Cole England. The two-time O'Brien Award-winning mare won her 62nd race from 136 starts and has now earned $1,351,095. She paid $5 to win.

Earlier in the card, Camara Moment found his way to the winner’s circle off a pair of in-the-money finishes to take the $25,000 third preliminary of the Ontario Sired Graduate Series.

Driver Doug McNair moved the four-year-old Control The Moment gelding to the fore before a :28.2 first quarter and coasted through the remainder. The Richard Moreau trainee clocked a :57.3 half and 1:25 three-quarters and sprinted for home to keep pocket-popper Ron in behind by 1-1/4 lengths, hitting the wire in 1:51.4. Kolby Two Step finished third and Dreamfair Arnie B took fourth.

Camara Moment competes for owners Mickey Sudar, Brenton Harris, James Borke and Dewitt Stables. He won his 12th race from 26 starts and has now earned $167,510. Camara Moment paid $3.70 to win.

A natural hat trick to cap the 12-race card tallied five total victories for driver Doug McNair on Saturday night. After winning in the opener with Ikes Dream (1:55 winning mile; $2.70) and later with Camara Moment before winning three straight at the end of the night with Cadillac Bayama (1:51.4; $6.80), The Legend Hanover (1:51.3; $4.60) and Fabrizio N (1:53; $12.40).
