Auckland Reactor Wins Woodlands Taylor

After disappointing in last month’s Interdominion Final, Auckland Reactor bounced back with a sharp effort in the $100,000 Woodlands Taylor Mile(1700m) on Friday evening at Alexandra Park

in New Zealand.

With Blair Orange at the controls, the four-year-old son of Mach Three floated off the starting gate and proceeded to make forward progress towards the early leader. After parking around the first turn he managed to clear, and once he was in command of the pace it was lights out for his five foes.

The Mark Purdon trainee accelerated away to a comfortable lead as the field entered the stretch, and it appeared as though he was on cruise control crossing the finish line.

Auckland Reactor held off a late rush from Georgetown, who closed well to finish second. Third went to Pembrook Benny.

Auckland Reactor is owned predominantly by a group of Canadians - including Peter Heffering, Tom Kyron, Bill Loyens, Doug Millard, Irv Storfer, Fred Brayford and Dr. Michael Wilson.
