Exotic Dragon won the $12,000 Fillies and Mares Preferred at The Raceway at the Western Fair District on Wednesday evening (April 19).

Travis Cullen and Exotic Dragon were the second choice behind favoured So Frisky (Colin Kelly) as they approached the gate. Leaving from the rail, Exotic Dragon waited for Escape The House to clear the front before moving off the pylons and advancing to the top. Right at the quarter pole in :27.1, the mare found her way back to the rail, now at the helm. She never looked back as she coasted through the half in :57 and three-quarters in 1:25.1. Around the final turn, So Frisky sprinted wide in an attempt to catch the leader, but was second best as Exotic Dragon won by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:55.2. Saulsbrook Jessie (Brett MacDonald) was third.

Exotic Dragon is a five-year-old daughter of Custard The Dragon and the Western Ideal mare Accentuate. In 66 career starts, the Jodie Cullen trainee has had 21 wins, 11 seconds and two thirds, accumulating $265,770 in lifetime earnings. Paul Sanders, Travis Cullen and Ronald Cullen co-own Exotic Dragon.
