After having taken to the community to rally support for more live racing at Fraser Downs, owner/trainer Sandra Roberts has said that the response has been positive. "We want to show that this is not just a bunch of horsemen. It's the whole community supporting us in this."

Roberts' comments come via an article by the Cloverdale Reporter, which explains that she has taken to the local community to get signatures for a petition to show how much racing at Fraser Downs means to the local business community.

According to the article, in a rare show of unity, the membership of Harness Racing BC has asked for a 10-month racing season at Fraser, a request which has been rejected by Fraser Downs operator Great Canadian Gaming Corp., the provincial gaming policy and enforcement branch, and the BC Horse Racing Industry Management Committee.

"The majority of the people are in support," Roberts was quoted as saying. "They can see the effect on the entire community if we lose the racing."
