The $18,000 Pop Up Series final for claiming pacers was contested in the Monday, April 1 evening finale at Woodbine Mohawk Park and Royal Regatta played no April Fools jokes in his sixth straight triumph with a gate-to-wire victory.

James MacDonald completed a card grand slam in the nightcap as he took the Rene Bourassa student to the gate in post seven. Leaving from the center of the wings, MacDonald and Royal Regatta secured the early lead and never looked back. After posting panels in :26.4, :57.1 and 1:27.1, Royal Regatta breezed home in :28.1 to score by 1-1/4 lengths in 1:55.2. No Time At All (Trevor Henry) finished second and Dirty Little Piglet (Sylvain Filion) took third.

Royal Regatta (Mcardle-Mary O Mel) is a nine-year-old gelding and winner of $295,895 in career earnings. In 195 starts, Royal Regatta has made 36 trips to the winner's circle with six of those made this season so far in 10 starts. The even-odds favourite in the feature, the gelding returned $3 to win.
