Ocean Downs has announced that track announcer Frank Salive is leaving his current position calling the action at the Maryland racetrack.
“Frank has informed me that he plans to retire,” said Peter Szymanski, Director of Racing at Ocean Downs. “The impending Canadian Hall of Famer will be missed down here. The folks loved his calls.”
Known for decades as “The Voice” of Canadian harness racing, Salive will be inducted into the Canadian Horse Racing Hall of Fame in the Communicator category this summer as part of the Class of 2022. Ocean Downs is one of an estimated 75 racetracks where he has graced the announcers booth during his illustrious career.
The 2023 harness racing season at Ocean Downs will feature 48 race dates, beginning Sunday, May 28 and continuing through Wednesday, Sept. 6.
