Major In Art tops a list of 73 colts nominated to the $1 million Meadowlands Pace on Saturday, July 18
.
Nominations to the track’s signature event are up seven per cent from last year (68). Elimination races on July 11 will determine the 10 finalists who advance to the 2009 Meadowlands Pace.
The 2008 Two-Year-Old Colt Pacer of the Year, Major In Art, counted the Woodrow Wilson at the Meadowlands among his six wins in 10 starts last season. Campaigned by Justin Lebo at two, the son of Art Major has moved into Noel Daley’s barn this season.
The list of 'Pace' nominees also includes freshman Breeders Crown champion Well Said, trained by Steve Elliott, and Dial Or Nodial, winner of the $175,000 New Jersey Sire Stakes Championship for two-year-olds.
Sustaining payments for nominees must be made March 15, April 15 and May 15.
