After a four-year-old debut a week ago in qualifying action at Freehold Raceway, speedy stakes winner Water Sports Teen tightened for a return to pari-mutuel action with a sharp effort during the qualifiers at The Meadowlands on Friday (March 18).
With regular pilot Joe Bongiorno at the controls, Water Sports Teen made every call a winning one from his post seven starting spot. After opening fractions of :28.2, :56.4 and 1:24.2, the pacing gelding powered home in :26.1 to repel the stern challenge of pocket-sitting sophomore Captaingiddyupngo (Todd McCarthy) to trip the timer a head the best in 1:50.3.
Owned by Joshua Graber of Michigan, Water Sports Teen (Somebeachsomewhere - Posey Tina) posted a 9-4-4 summary from 27 starts in 2021, earning $247,617 and taking a lifetime mark of 1:48.2f in his Adios elim. Jenn Bongiorno handles the training duties.
