Ontario-based reinsman Michael Whelan took his show on the road Thursday afternoon to Freehold Raceway, and the young reinsman came away victorious in this year’s edition of the St. Patrick’s Day Pace.

Whelan was teamed up with LLC Delight, and together they survived a first-over journey to come away victorious in the $2,500 affair. Race favourite Ryan Again (George Brennan) shot to the front and chopped out an opening fraction of :28 before prompted by LLC Delight through middle splits of :58.1 and 1:27.1. LLC Delight used a :30.1 closing quarter to prevail by 1-1/4 lengths over Ryan Again, with Doggone Incredible (Jonathon Dunne) finishing third.

David Pinkney, Jr. trains LLC Delight for Gary Kay of Bensalem, PA. It was the first win of the season – and the ninth to date – for the seven-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Jett Away. He’s closing in on $100,000 in career earnings.
