Yonkers Raceway has announced an across-the-board purse increase of approximately 15 per cent, beginning with the race week of Monday, March 24.
The new purse structure will range from $9,000 (for non-winners of $5,000 in last six starts) to $38,000 (for the trio of weekly Opens/Open Handicaps). The 'old' range went from $6,500 to $33,000.
“We realize that with Pocono and Harrah’s Philly opening, horsemen have more choices, and we’re committed the maintaining the best racing right here,” said General Manager Bob Galterio. “As always, we appreciate their support and encourage everyone to take a look at the new purse schedule.”
