Spring was in the air at Freehold Raceway on Friday (March 11), and Austin Siegelman took full advantage of the nice weather.
Siegelman picked up four wins on the afternoon, and he started his day a winner by guiding Princess Holly N to victory in Race 1 for owner/trainer Mike Fiumenero. He added his second win on the day in Race 5, as Trump This prevailed for trainer Symon Spicer. In Race 6, Siegelman completed the hat trick, as Western Fair shipper Dandy Idea won impressively for trainer Yogi Sheridan.
Siegelman was odds-on to complete the hat trick in the eighth race, driving heavy favourite Art History for trainer Izzy Estrada. With a first-over move just before the half-mile point, Siegelman got up to win and complete the grand slam.
Through the first two months of the season, Siegelman is well on his way to another Freehold driving title. He has 41 wins through 175 drives, far and away the most of any Freehold driver.
Live harness racing continues on Saturday (March 12), with a 12-race program starting at 12:30 PM. The program is headlined by the St. Patrick's Day Pace, sponsored by Peter and Mary Grandich, featuring drivers of Irish heritage.
