Betfair, Stronach, Six Others In Running To Operate Monmouth Park

It has been reported that eight prospective lessees today submitted the required $25,000 payment in order to make themselves eligible to become the eventual operator of Monmouth Park

.

According to a report on nj.com, real estate developer Morris Bailey, the Angelo Gordon Company, Mike Musto (representing the Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association), real estate developer John Brunetti (the owner of Hialeah Park), Betfair, Ocala Meadows (Frank Stronach's group), Bernard Dowd and Greenwood Racing (owners of Philadelphia Park) submitted the required payment.

The article also explains that the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority is expected to name the winner shortly after the deadline cheques are deposited March 31.

The parties which made the initial payments today are now examining due diligence information in regard to the thoroughbred raceway.
