Campbell's Momentum Continues

With one of the hottest stables in the nation, Brandon Campbell continued his early season success on Saturday (February 4), with a training triple front-loading the harness racing program at Northlands Park.

Following up a five-win performance last Saturday, Campbell opened this weekend's 10-race card with pacing mare Smilys Amira ($3.70) sweeping to her second win in a row in 1:58.4 over the frozen track for the Chase The Pace Stable.

Peter Chanak and Dana Shore's four-year-old pacer Dontmesswithjim ($2.90) improved his 2017 record to four-for-four in the afternoon's third race for Campbell, scoring in 1:59.3 in front-end fashion.

Campbell then returned to the winner's circle after guiding his own pacer Total Rhythm ($5.30) to a 1:59.1 victory in the very next race. Claimed back by Campbell in his last outing, the veteran gelding looped to the lead at the third quarter mark to earn his 45th career win.

The Calgary, Alta. horseman later closed out the card steering the Dan Sifert-trained Sudden Storm ($2.90) wire-to-wire for the four-year-old pacer's third consecutive victory, timed in 2:01.4.

The Campbell stable now boasts 15 wins, four second-place finishes and two thirds from 30 starts in 2017 for an outstanding 0.596 UTRS. Campbell currently ranks second in all of Canada for wins behind Richard Moreau (17), who was named Trainer of the Year for the fourth straight year last Saturday at the O'Brien Awards, with Travis Cullen (14) sitting a close third.
