With the Century Mile meet concluding on Saturday, Feb. 3, harness racing in Alberta will shift to Century Downs with the Calgary session beginning next month on March 16.
Phil Giesbrecht has emerged as the leading driver at Century Mile through the first part of the year with 14 wins after adding a victory with his own trainee, Handcuffed, during the meet finale. A pair of Saturday scores bumped Mike Hennessy's win count to 11 while Dave Kelly holds down the third position with seven wins.
There's a tie atop the trainer standings between eight-time winners Kelly Hoerdt and Brinsley Brooking Lutz, who both sent a pair to the Edmonton winner's circle on Saturday. Travis Ellis is just one win behind.
Harness racing returns to Century Mile on Sept. 21.
