At last, a filly born on Wednesday, Feb. 23 is the first by Flameproof Hanover.

To help mark the occasion, the connections hosted a unique contest offering a free 2022 breeding to Flameproof Hanover worth $1,500 for whoever submitted the closest day and time of the first foal's arrival. Name suggestions were also accepted as part of the contest.

Wayne Hubbard of Saint John, N.B. is the winner of the free 2022 breeding to Flameproof Hanover. His guess of February 20 was the last guess standing with the filly keeping breeder Arnold Hagen of Redland Farms waiting for 12 months and four days. She seems to be saying, “So I’m late, so what?!”

Now it is Hagen's turn to pick a name from the many suggestions submitted. Wayne Hubbard suggested Redland Heatwave and perhaps could be the winner of dinner for four at Red Shores compliments of the Flameproof Hanover Syndicate. Any other suggestions out there?

The filly is also the first foal out of the Western Ideal mare Ella Christina p.3,1:50.2 ($338,783).

Flameproof Hanover stands his second season on Prince Edward Island for a fee of $1,500. He bred a select group of 32 mares in 2021.
