Will The Winning Streak Reach 14?

Itrustyou, who currently co-leads all horses in wins this year in North America with six, along with 13 straight scores, headlines the opening leg of the Cam Fella Pacing Series which begins Saturday evening at Woodbine Racetrack.

The Ron Burke trainee, who will start from Post 9, has been named the 2-1 morning line favourite for his $30,000 tilt.

“He’s been a bit of a surprise for us,” Burke said. “When we purchased him, we were just looking for a respectable racehorse, but for him to knock off 13 in a row is something any trainer doesn’t expect.”

The Illinois-bred son of Third Straight--Dynamic Lady has notched 16 career victories with a record of 1:50 and $252,175 in the bank.

Although Burke has only had the four-year-old for 11 starts, Itrustyou was a horse he had inquired about before, in speaking with trainer/owner/breeder Dean Collins, who is also stabled at the Meadows racetrack in Pennsylvania.

“I’ve asked Dean in the past if he ever wanted to sell the horse and he declined,” Burke said. “Then, one day, he approached me and offered to sell the horse and the rest is history.”

Burke has assigned regular Pennsylvania reinsman, Brett Miller, to handle the lines in Race 10.

“The Woodbine drivers are terrific, but this horse isn’t easy to drive,” Burke said. “He’s a funny horse to drive if you don’t know him. He puts in steps and looks at everything. Brett has driven him before at Woodbine and has had success, so we will stick with that game plan again.”

According to Burke, Itrustyou is a horse any trainer would enjoy having in their stable.

“That’s what makes him the horse he is. He’s all heart,” Burke said. “Sure, he’s got good conformation and everything, but every time he races, he tries his heart out. For a trainer, you can’t ask for anything more than that.”

Itrustyou is owned by Burke Racing Stable and is conditioned by David Menary while in Ontario.
