Ontario MPPs are coming out of the woodwork in support of the province's horse-racing industry, as more and more are looking to set the record straight after the provincial Liberal Government wrongly characterized the highly-successful slots-at-racetracks program as a 'subsidy' for the industry

.

The inaccurate characterization of the slots-at-racetracks program has elicited a wealth of MPPs to show their support for the program, which has proven to be a positive economic machine for the province of Ontario.

"This is yet another ploy to divert attention from the real issue," Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker has been quoted as saying in an article by The Meaford Independent. "The McGuinty Liberals have run our province into horrendous debt, and rather than focusing on ways to turn it around, they choose to once again punish rural Ontario and the agriculture industry."

"That there would be a time when (Ontario Premier) Dalton McGuinty's hatred of rural Ontario would want to put the horseracing industry right out, and that's what we have here," MPP Garfield Dunlop has been quoted as saying in an article by 680 News.
