Off first-preliminary victories last week, both Shesasharpshooter and Getting Euchred doubled up in Blizzard Pacing Series action, winning their respective $18,000 divisions on Thursday night (Feb. 2) at Woodbine Mohawk Park.

Shesasharpshooter scored early in the snow-draped evening, applying similar front-stepping tactics to post a 1:56.1 win. Driver Steve Hudon planted the Laura Toscani pupil on the helm to a :28.3 first quarter and cruised through middle fractions of :57.4 and 1:27.1. The four-year-old Huntsville mare responded in the lane and opened 2-1/2 lengths to the finish over Ezbriesybeautiful, who overtook pock-sitter Arizona for second. Music Box Noise, who did not travel smoothly in the first quarter of the race, rallied to take fourth.

Gino Toscani owns Shesasharpshooter, a four-time winner from 23 starts and an earner of $50,151. She paid $4.80 to win.

Getting Euchred also applied similar tactics in winning her division with a mid-pack push to clock a 1:56.4 mile. The three-year-old All Bets Off filly sat off a :28.4 first quarter set by Kinda Like Royalty, who then yielded control to 7-5 favourite Chedda Chedda before a :58.1 half. Driver Doug McNair moved Getting Euchred off the pegs from third and advanced for the front through three-quarters in 1:27.3 to then seize the lead off the turn. Getting Euchred held her ground through the lane as Nootka, after getting rough in the stretch, revved and took aim at the leader, but finished a neck shy at the beam. Chedda Chedda settled for third and Kinda Like Royalty took fourth.

Brent Belore trains Getting Euchred, a seven-time winner from 10 starts and an earner of $36,662, for owner Ronald Thomson. She paid $5.20 to win.
