Only three races remained on the Sunday (Feb. 19) card at Flamboro Downs, and the Jodie Cullen stable fired to give the conditioner a natural hat trick.
Whatineedisaman ($2.90 to win) gave Jodie Cullen her first win of the night in Race 9, going nearly wire to wire in 1:56.1 in an $8,000 claiming event. She returned to the winner’s circle one race later when So Strange ($9.80) powered first over to a head victory in Race 10, a $6,900 conditioned pacing event.
But a quickfire threepeat did not look likely with Race 11. L A Woman broke at the pylons and trailed the field over 10 lengths in ninth. Driver Ryan Desroche pulled the bad start from the fire and ripped through the field, nabbing a head victory while recovering 13 lengths through the race to win in 1:58.4. She paid $9.70 to win.
