After settling for the show dough in back-to-back assignments in the top class for distaffers at Fraser Downs, Moosette powered her way to a win in Thursday’s $10,000 Fillies & Mares Open at the British Columbia oval.

In rein to Brandon Campbell, who nabbed four wins on the card, Moosette sat second behind Mrs Suhwiggins past the opening quarter in :27.3 before marching past that foe as the field swung in front of the grandstand for the first time.

Moosette then motored through middle splits of :58 and 1:26.4 before using a :28.2 final frame to win by three lengths over In High Cotton in 1:55.1.  That one’s stablemate, Century Mach, was third in the five-mare affair.

Sent off as the 4-5 favourite, the six-year-old daughter of Hes Watching-Legal Suspensory won for the first time this season and for the 22nd time in her career.  Jim Marino trains the homebred winner of $166,878 for Shale Stables of Merritt, B.C.
