Tough Times For Tim Tetrick

Two of racing’s leading ladies were in action during Thursday morning qualifiers at The Meadowlands Racetrack, and in the very near future one lucky man is going to have to commit to just one of them

.

That man is driver Tim Tetrick, who guided the 2011 Dan Patch and O’Brien Award-winning mare, Anndrovette, and the multiple award-winning distaffer, Put On A Show, to victories in their respective qualifiers earlier today in New Jersey.

First up was Put On A Show, who was forced to miss her entire three-year-old campaign in order to recover from knee surgery.

Tetrick plugged the Chris Ryder pupil into the two-hole through panels of :28.3, :57.2 and 1:26.1 before angling to the outside with the talented pacer and letting her reach for racetrack. She blazed home in :27.1 to win in 1:53.3 in what was her first charted line since capturing the $191,000 American-National Final at Balmoral Park on November 13, 2010.

The five-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover-Stienams Place, who is owned by Craig Henderson of Chicago, IL along with Richard and Joanne Young of Coconut Creek, FL, owns a career record of 19-5-0 from 25 starts and she’s on the verge of becoming racing’s newest double millionairess.

Anndrovette, who went 11-for-20 in 2011 while stashing away more than $747,000 for New Jersey partners Jeff Bamond and Joseph Davino, also resurfaced during Thursday’s qualifying session. And like Put On A Show, she was victorious for driver Tim Tetrick.

Tetrick put the P.J. Fraley pupil on the lead and dictated the tempo through fractions of :29.3, :58.3 and 1:27.1 before turning on the afterburners with the five-year-old daughter of Riverboat King-Easy Miss. She uncorked a :27.3 final frame to halt the teletimer in 1:54.4 in what was her first start since a frustrating defeat in the $195,000 Forest City Pace in London on November 26, 2011.

The 21-time winner, who turned in a dazzling decision in the $301,170 Breeders Crown Mare Pace at Woodbine Racetrack on October 29, 2011, has banked more than $1.3 million in career earnings.

Both mares are expected to make appearances in the opening leg of the Overbid Series on March 2 at The Meadowlands Racetrack.

Also winning their qualifying assignments on Thursday morning were Emily Do (1:58.2), Pilgrims All In (1:59.4), Baby Blaze (1:59.2), MMs Lucky Boy (1:57), Major Herbie (1:55.2), Blomkvist (1:58.4), Vanity Fairest (1:55.3), JK Owhatanite (1:53.2), Shoobees Place (1:54.2), Tearful Reunion (1:54.3), Kings Legend (1:55.2), Abelard Hanover (1:53.4) and Rojettes Best (1:53).
