Century Hannibal ended 2021 as one of the hottest horses at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and after a month off the speedy four-year-old pacer has returned to the racing wars.

During a blustery morning qualifying session at Mohawk on Friday (Feb. 11), Century Hannibal and driver James MacDonald were back on the track for the first time since the Valedictory Final on New Year's Day. Century Hannibal carved out fractions of :29, :59.3 and 1:27.4 before sprinting home in a swift :27.2 to trip the timer in 1:55.1. He was more than five lengths better than Southbeach Hanover (Austin Sorrie).

Owned by Paul Ritchie of Mono, Ont. and trained by Jim Ritchie, Century Hannibal (Control The Moment - Up Front Holly) will make his next appearance riding a four-race win streak. He took his lifetime mark in the opening leg of Valedictory Series on December 18, 2021.
