Run Director qualified with one of the top times on the five-race card as a trotter at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Friday morning (Dec. 9).
Run Director has been on a qualifying spree throughout 2022. His most recent run started in late November, and he has posted faster times each week.
On Nov. 25, Run Director held the lead throughout the mile until the wire when Stay Close bested him by a head in 1:58.3. The following week, on Dec. 3, Sylvain Filion floated the seven-year-old O'Brien Award winner off the gate and kept on rolling to win by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:57.2.
On Friday’s (Dec. 9) start, Run Director maintained the gate-to-wire strategy, reaching the opening quarter in :28.2. He maintained control through the half and three-quarters in :58.1 and 1:27.3. In the stretch, he opened up to win by two lengths in 1:56.2.
Shane Weber trains the winner of $669,870 for Thomas and Elizabeth Rankin of St. Catharines, Ont.
