NJ Court Upholds Gov. Christie's Veto

It has been reported that a New Jersey court has upheld Governor Chris Christie's veto of a 2011 push by the New Jersey State Racing Commission to get $15 million in purse subsidies dispersed to the state racing industry.

As an article by John Brennan in The Bergen Record explains, Governor Christie had vetoed the subsidy based in part on the idea that a subsidy would go against the concept of the state's raceways becoming self sustaining entities.

The New Jersey Thoroughbred Horsemen's Association had objected to the initial decision.
