Drama Act Lowers Northfield Record

Drama Act became the fastest four-year-old pacing mare in the history of Northfield Park when she won the $19,500 Fillies and Mares Open in 1:50.1 on Saturday (Dec. 4).

The previous mark was 1:50.3 and held in a three-way tie by Lakeisha Hall in 2017, Bye Bye Felicia in 2018 and Baron Remy in 2019.

Ron Burke trains the pacer for owner OK Corral of Hampshire, Ill. Ronnie Wrenn Jr. was in the sulky for the winning drive.

Drama Act (Well Said-Lounge Act-Cams Card Shark) started from post 8. She left from the gate and led every call through fractions of :26.4, :55.2 and 1:23.2 before easily beating her competition by 2-1/4 lengths.

Drama Act now has 14 wins in 22 starts this year. Saturday’s victory was her 22nd win overall and bolstered her lifetime bankroll to $421,312. She was heavily favoured and returned $2.80 to win.

The record-breaking performance was just the highlight of the big evening for driver Ronnie Wrenn Jr., who scored seven wins on the Saturday program.
