Mantario turned a patient steer into a winning effort in the Sunday afternoon (Dec. 4) feature at Red Shores Racetrack and Casino at the Charlottetown Driving Park.

In line to “The Red Rocket” David Dowling, Mantario settled away fifth in the early going in the $3,500 Preferred Pace as inside starter Spicey P (Jason Hughes) went to the lead. Spicey P’s opening salvos were in :29 and :58.4 with Stash It Away (Marc Campbell) moving up first-over to challenge and Mantario taking a trip from the back to grab second-over cover in the outer flow. The three-quarters was reached in 1:28 as Stash It Away took over the lead from Spicey P before Mantario stormed home in the stretch to win in 1:57.1. Navalny (Adam Merner) finished strong in second ahead of Burn Out Hanover (Brady Sweet).

Jennifer Doyle co-owns and trains Mantario for co-owner Danny Birt of Earnscliffe, P.E.I.

The $3,150 Preferred 2 Pace was claimed by Moonwriter in 1:56.4 for driver Ken Murphy, trainer Colin Johnson and owner Debbie Element of Village Green, P.E.I.
