Fresh off a month-long layoff, American Risk ($2.40) was back to business on Sunday afternoon (Dec. 4) at Truro Raceway.

Sent postward as the 1-5 favourite in the featured $2,500 Winners Over Pace, the six-year-old American Ideal gelding led wire-to-wire, setting fractions of :28.2, :59.2 and 1:29 before sprinting away to a 1:57.1 victory over the 'good' track with Todd Trites in tow. Thunder Alley (Ernest Laffin) chased three lengths behind off a pocket trip with Well Did (Ken Parker Jr.) following in third and November Pacing Series champion Dont Ask Logan (Darren Crowe), who launched a failed first-over bid from the back approaching three-quarters, completing the field that was reduced to just four starters with the scratch of Havarti.

American Risk picked up his 10th win of the year to go along with 10 other top three finishes from 24 starts for meet-leading trainer George Rennison and the Risky Bizz Group of Truro, N.S. His $22,310 seasonal earnings boosted his career bankroll over the $100,000 mark.
