Woodbine Mohawk Park featured 12 races, including the finales to the Valedictory Pacing Series and Niagara Pacing Series, for its Boxing Day card on Monday (Dec. 26).

Camara Moment debuted for new trainer Richard Moreau in the $33,400 Valedictory final and made the start a winning one. Camara Moment and Paul MacDonell were sitting fourth to the quarter in :27.3 before pulling first over and flying around the outside, clearing to the top. Once settled, the pair maintained their lead through the half in :56.1 and three-quarters in 1:24. Around the final turn, Camara Moment faced pressure from the favoured Unsung Hero, but pressed on. Jk Miki Mantle (James MacDonald) made one last attempt to take the win, but Camara Moment held on to win by a neck in 1:52. Full Disclosure (Ondrej Gois) finished third.

Camara Moment is a three-year-old gelding by Control The Moment. Mickey Sudar, Brenton Harris and James Borke co-own the winner of five races and $66,210 lifetime.

Baby Bonita collected the winner’s share of the $31,800 purse in the Niagara final with James MacDonald at the controls. MacDonald got away fourth from the rail with the filly and stayed put through the :27.2 first quarter and :56.3 half. Just after the half, Baby Bonita tipped first over, breezing past the field and three-quarters in 1:25. Gaining momentum with every stride, Baby Bonita crossed the wire 1-3/4 lengths ahead of her challengers in 1:54. Fromakingtoaqueen (Douglas McNair) finished second and Acrimony (Louis-Philippe Roy) took third.

Baby Bonita is a three-year-old filly by Sunshine Beach. Trained by Billy Budd and owned by Bruce Davy, Baby Bonita now sports seven lifetime wins and $89,988 in career earnings.

More than $4.4 million was wagered for the afternoon Boxing Day card.
