An $18,000 conditioned trot was served up as the main course at Woodbine Mohawk Park on Thursday (Dec. 14) evening and Msfrannie took home the victory in a 15-1 upset.
Msfrannie and Sylvain Filion got away third off the car through the opening panel in :28.2 before being shuffled back to fourth at the :57.2 half. On the way to the three-quarters in 1:27.4, Msfrannie charged first-over and took command of the timer from the outside. She soared with the open track ahead to win by 2-3/4 lengths in 1:57.2. Collector S (Chris Christoforou) and Prince Archie (Steven Hudon) dead-heated for second.
Unraced as a freshman, Msfrannie (Southwind Frank-Msnaughtybutnice) is co-owned by Michael and Sam Sergi. She moved her record to 5-4-0 in 14 starts with $38,175 banked. The winning time was a career mark for the sophomore filly trained by Richard Moreau. She returned $32.20 to win in the upset.
