The Tuesday (Nov. 8) evening opener and feature class at The Raceway at the Western Fair District was won by Jayport Hi Class.

Jayport Hi Class took the outside position on the gate in the $8,600 condition trot, going off as the bettors' choice. Driver Greg Dustin eased the five-year-old gelding off the car and settled into fourth position after making it around the first turn. After the :28.3 first quarter, Jayport Hi Class closed the 4-3/4 length gap between him and the top three contenders while Shouldaknownbetter (Anthony Hamlin) pulled first over. Jayport Hi Class followed his cover to a :59.3 half. Tymal Houdini (Tyler Borth) maintained his lead against the challenging outer flow. Just before the three-quarter pole in 1:30, Jayport Hi Class was forced three-wide around a stalling Shouldaknownbetter. He hit the gas and met Heavy Dude E eye-to-eye as he pulled from the pocket. In the stretch, Jayport Hi Class leapt forward from his competitors to collect a 2:00.1 victory. Goaltender (Samuel Fillion) surged late from the far outside to grab second and Tymal Houdini held on for third.

Greg Dustin trains the Muscle Mass-Jayport Forever gelding for Ted Melchers of Komoka and Gys H Versteegh of London, Ont. In 68 lifetime starts, Jayport Hi Class has had a record of 12-21-10 with $109,371 in career earnings; of those starts, his 2022 record has shown 5-6-4 with $51,819 made.
