Sandbetweenurtoes and driver Jody Jamieson rallied home from the outer flow to chase down pacesetter Wrangler Magic in this week's $30,000 Fillies & Mares Preferred Pace at Mohawk Racetrack featured on Friday night's (November 4) harness racing program.

With the inside post advantage, Wrangler Magic (Sylvain Filion) secured the lead over 9-5 favourite Rock N Roll Xample (James MacDonald) and was up by nearly three lengths at the :27.3 opening quarter. Wrangler Magic proceeded to set middle splits of :56.3 and 1:25 while Sayitall BB (Travis Cullen) advanced first-over from fourth. Delightful Hill (Jonathan Drury) gapped her cover and that prompted a third-over Sandbetweenurtoes to fan wide as the field turned for home.

Wrangler Magic continued to lead the way into the stretch with Sayitall BB up to her wheel, but Sandbetweenurtoes was the biggest threat as she stormed home in :27.4 to prevail by one length over the pacesetter in 1:53.2. Rock N Roll Xample, last week's winner, closed inside to finish third while Delightful Hill edged out Sayitall BB in the race for the minor spoils.

Sandbetweenurtoes paid $6.50 to win as the 2-1 second wagering favourite.

The Somebeachsomewhere-Als Girl mare now sports a 2016 record reading 6-4-3 in 24 starts and earnings of $174,595 for owner Bradley Grant of Milton, Ont. She is a career winner of 19 races and $742,722 in purses.

The victory brought trainer Richard Moreau closer to a career milestone as he now sits three wins away from the 5,000 mark.
