Mohawk Park Preferred To HP Mama B

A co-ed group of high-end trotters clashed in Monday’s $34,000 Preferred at Woodbine Mohawk Park, and the lone mare in the field showed the boys a thing or two.

HP Mama B was treated to a two-hole trip by driver Louis-Philippe Roy in the main event, and she didn’t let it go to waste.

Roy opted to stretch out race favourite Logan Park to the quarter pole in :27 before releasing that foe to the front.  Logan Park then wheeled the field through middle panels of :55.4 and 1:25 before renewing his rivalry with the pocket-popping HP Mama B.

The two heavyweights sprinted into the lane and went toe-to-toe before Logan Park rolled into a late break.  HP Mama B kicked away and scored by 2-3/4 lengths over Truffles Too in 1:52.4.  Locatelli came on late to nab the show dough in the six-horse affair.

Ben Baillargeon trains the four-year-old daughter of Royalty For Life-Winters Jewel for Claude Hamel of Ayer’s Cliff, Que.  She’s a six-time winner this season and a 16-time winner to date.  The $17,000 payday bumped her overall bankroll to $552,243.
