After making a quarter move to the lead, Dontpokethedragon strolled home as the odds-on choice in the $13,000 Horses & Geldings Preferred Pace on Wednesday night (Nov. 23) at Flamboro Downs.
Twin B Powerball took the top past a :27.3 first quarter but yielded passing the stands to Dontpokethedragon, who then clicked a :57.2 half. Driven by Travis Cullen, the five-year-old Custard The Dragon gelding continued rolling to three-quarters in 1:25.4 and maintained a two-length lead to the finish of a 1:53.4 mile. Twin B Powerball settled for second with Ideal Perception riding the pylons for third and Bayfield Beach taking fourth.
Jodie Cullen trains Dontpokethedragon for owners J J J Stables, Paul Sanders and Travis Cullen. He won his 24th race from 83 starts and has now earned $228,200. He paid $3.50 to win.
