Thunder Alley rolled down the road to win the fastest of three eliminations in the new November Pacing Series on Sunday afternoon (Nov. 20) at Truro Raceway.
Driven by Redmond Doucet, popular inside starter Thunder Alley ($2.60) carved out fractions of :27.4, :57.3 and 1:27.1 in his $3,000 elimination before drawing away from the rest of the field to win by 5-1/2 lengths in 1:56.3 over the track rated 'good' with a two second variant. Good Friday Three (Todd Trites) and Harry G (Ernest Laffin) followed in second and third, respectively.
Thunder Alley is trained by Rick Beaumont and owned by Aurolie Beaumont of Judique, N.S. Now a 20-time career winner, the six-year-old Mystery Chase-The Three Of Us gelding has earned six of his victories this season through 23 starts.
Doucet doubled up in the eliminations as he picked up the drive on the Bo Ford-trained mare Share The Moment ($5.80), who was a 1:57 winner. Moving first-up from third after a :58 half, the four-year-old distaffer overtook early leader Privilege (Todd Trites) at three-quarters in 1:27.3 and scooted away to win by 3-1/4 lengths over that rival. Frontier Cruise (Robert Laffin), winner of last week's top class at Truro, edged out Well Did (Paul Langille) for third.
Share The Moment was the favourite in her elim following back-to-back late October victories in P.E.I. for owners Arnold Myers and Luke Beck of Charlottetown, Scott Bridges of Summerside, P.E.I., and A1stable of Dundas, Ont. The daughter of Control The Moment out of Feelin Flush notched her sixth win of the season from 26 starts and now has 17 wins lifetime.
The favourites delivered in the series as Dont Ask Logan ($3.80) won the other elimination in 1:58 in rein to Todd Trites for the George Rennison stable. The bettors' choice from the pylon post led through splits of :28, :58 and 1:28 before fighting off final turn challenger Havarti (Paul Langille) when headed briefly at the top of the stretch. Dont Ask Logan prevailed by 1-1/4 lengths over Harvati, with Risin Horizon (Darren Crowe) following in third.
A winner at Truro last time out on Nov. 13, Dont Ask Logan picked up his seventh victory of the year from 24 starts for his Nova Scotia ownership group that includes Andrea Rennison of Truro, Ian MacDonald of Lower Sackville and Basil Sherry of Beaver Bank. The seven-year-old McArdle-D J Cameo gelding now has 24 wins in total on his lifetime record.
George Rennison ended Sunday's 10-race card with a training triple, also picking up wins courtesy of the undefeated rookie pacer All Bets On Tex (Paul Langille) and the sophomore filly The Generals Pride (Todd Trites). Doucet ended the day with three driving wins as did Langille while Trites drove a pair of winners.
The top two finishers from each November Pacing Series elimination will advance to the $8,000 final along with the two fastest third-place finishers. The next eight highest placing finishers will compete in the $4,000 consolation. Both the final and consolation are scheduled for next for Sunday, Nov. 27.
The November Pacing Series is for horses that have not raced for a purse greater than $3,500 from Aug. 1, 2022 to Oct. 31, 2022 (inclusive). Also eligible are three-year-olds who were non-winners of $35,000 in 2022 to Oct. 31 (inclusive). Fillies and mares are also eligible.
