After posting a much-needed, confidence-boosting win in London on Nov. 1, Giddy Up Max returned to the half-miler and marched up the class ladder to take on tougher foes in Friday’s $13,000 Preferred Pace.

The Victory Puddy-trained Giddy Up Max unleashed a big, late kick to take home top honours in the featured affair, and he did so as an 8-1 outsider.

Travis Henry got away last with the gelding, who watched Ideal Jet sprint the field through fractions of :28.1, :58.1 and 1:26.3  Henry picked up cover on the way to  the half with Giddy Up Max, who still had four rivals to pass as the group headed into the final quarter of the contest.  Giddy Up Max stormed home in :29.3, and that was good enough to earn him the win by three-quarters of a length over Kenny Joe in 1:57.  P L Oliver was third.

David Shea of Campbellville, Ont owns the five-year-old son of Bettors Delight-Film Critic.  The victory was his fourth of the season and the 11th of his career.  The lion’s share of the loot pushed his lifetime earnings over $80,000.
