Millionaire pacer Abuckabett Hanover, who finished fourth in last Saturday’s Breeders Crown Open Pace to Bulldog Hanover, sold for more than half a million dollars on Monday in an online sale.

Abuckabett Hanover p,3,1:49.1 ($1,019,822) topped Preferred Equine Online’s “monster” Halloween sale on Oct. 31 when he was hammered down for $534,000.

The four-year-old horse by Betting Line, who is a prime contender for every upcoming Free-For-All pacing stakes, was consigned by PEO as agent for the partnership of Alagna Racing, Crawford Farms, Jablonsky Held Stable and Barbera N. Wienick Stable, and was purchased by Andrew Harris.

“Abuckabett Hanover would be a marquee horse at any mixed sale, live or online, and we’re very proud his owners chose PEO,” said sale owner and manager David Reid. “A horse of that caliber draws attention from everywhere and the high number of bids today on all of the sale’s horses reflected that.”

Next down the price ladder with a tag of $130,000 was the multiple stakes winning three-year-old pacer Sling Shock p,3,1:49.3h-’22 ($358,382). He was sold as agent for Michael Cimaglio, William Richardson, William Salmeri and Rhonda Gilmartin, and purchased by WRS Racing.

The sale’s middle market showed strength once again. The highly successful Weaver Bruscemi partnership, active at recent PEO sales, left the Oct. 31 sale with three horses: Portofino (purchased for $66,000), Kenogami Rebel ($42,000) and Forrest ($34,000).

Marc Reynolds, as agent for Tom Pollack, was on the buyer sheet again this week, purchasing Pencils Down for $58,000.

It was the highest-grossing sale in the company’s short history, setting records for both gross ($1.4-million) and racehorse average ($52,154).

In all, 33 of the 41 horses cataloged were sold. Those not sold are still listed on the sale page, with an asking price posted for most.

Reid said the date for the next Preferred Equine Online Mixed Sale will be announced soon. on preferredequineonline.com.
