Kings County took to the throne in the $25,000 Open Trot at Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway on Tuesday (Oct. 4).

Leaving from post seven, Kings County settled into third along the rail. After an opening quarter in :27.4, driver Brett Miller popped the pocket and never looked back. At 2-1, the six-year-old horse easily took control the field to post remaining fractions in :56.1 and 1:24.2 before stopping the clock in 1:53.3. Kings County bested Lane Of Stone (Jeff Nisonger) in second with Big City Pearl (Atlee Bender) finishing third.

In 27 starts, Kings County has hit the board 17 times throughout 2022. Now with eight wins on the season, the son of Muscle Hill has banked over $166,000 this year alone. The Open victory further pushed Kings County over the $400,000 mark in lifetime earnings. Stacy Van Huizen trains for Thestable Kings County group.

Chris Page led drivers with four victories on the 14-race card. Kayne Kauffman followed closely behind with three wins while Miller and Trevor Smith each scored two. On the training side, Ron Burke was the only to double up on wins.

Live racing will resume Wednesday (Oct. 5) at Dayton Raceway with first post at 4 p.m.
