A royally-bred trotter attracted a bid of $410,000 to become the new sale topper at the Lexington Selected Yearling Sale on Wednesday evening (Oct. 3).

Chestnut Hill, a colt by Hambletonian winner Muscle Hill out of 2009 juvenile standout Poof Shes Gone, sold from Peninsula Farm Inc. for $410,000 to agent Richard "Nifty" Norman. Bellareina Dolce, a Muscle Hill filly out of Bella Dolce, was purchased for $400,000 by Lina Alm on behalf of the SRF Stable.

Of Ontario-sired yearlings, Lottery Winner attracted the highest bid of the evening. The son of Bettors Delight and Extreme Dream sold for $185,000 from Kentuckiana Farms to Jimmy Takter. Magic Bob (Kadabra-Magic Marker) was the most expensive Ontario-sired trotter to pass through the sales ring, drawing a bid of $170,000 from David McDuffee.

Casie Coleman made the highest winning bid among Canadian owners, paying $140,000 for Aces Rock (Bettors Delight-Double Jeopardy), who was consigned by Preferred Equine Inc.

In all, 163 yearlings passed through the sales ring and over $13.6 million changed hands, resulting in an average sale price of $83,748 for the second session. Forty-six yearlings sold for six-figure price tags, nine of which sold for at least $200,000.

Four Ontario sires were represented in the Wednesday session: Muscle Mass, Kadabra, Bettors Delight and Sportswriter. A combined 15 Ontario-sired yearlings attracted over $1.3 million in winning bids, averaging $87,067.

The sale, held as usual at the Fasig-Tipton Pavilion in Lexington, Ky., continues though Saturday (Oct. 6), with the next session slated for Thursday (Oct. 4) at 7 p.m.
